21: Starting crowd: day two
Sadly, the Valero folks didn't get the priviledge of starting out front on the second day, so Addison and I found ourselves back about 70 yards from the start gate.
Day two couldn't have gone better. After a long first day with scares, disappointments, rough roads and incredible heat, day two was the opposite on all counts. There was one 10-mile stretch with wind in our face, but once we turned toward Corpus Christi, the wind pushed us the rest of the way. Gladly, neither Addison nor I experienced any mechanical difficulties.
