Tour de Gruene 2006: Tour de What?
The Tour de Gruene is an annual two-day event in Gruene,
Texas, a peaceful, clean town about 15 minutes northeast
of San Antonio. Gruene is pronounced green,
by the way.
The tour's first day on Saturday was a recreational ride along River Road designed to build comaraderie and to let riders enjoy the charm and ambiance of Gruene. The second day was a competition between two-person teams. The race loop is considered challenging for it's spotty roads and, length and steepness at a few points.
Addison and Branton work together at Bicycle Heaven at Stone Oak in San Antonio. To give Addison time trial experience, Bicycle Heaven urged him and Branton to enter the Tour de Gruene. Here's the team:
