Tour de Gruene 2006
02: The Basic Rundown
We arrived early to register for the event, so we had more than
an hour to twiddle our thumbs before the start. We all headed to
the start to see the first teams take off. The start point is exciting:
it's a steed descent into what appears to be a dangerous hairpin
turn to the left. At that early hour, the roads were still slick
with patches of dew. Nadine's motherly instincts kicked in, fearing
for Addison's safety. Once we waddled with care down the hill we
could see it wasn't nearly as treacherous as it appeared from the
top. We remained concerned about the wet spots.
With time to kill before the start, we retuned
up the hill and talked with some of the riders Addison and Branton
knew. We had brought Trixie with us, so this was perfect time to
let her go where she wanted. She'd been patient up to this point.
Good Trixie.
Later we returned to the car with about twenty minutes to go. Trixie
was worn out with the newness of the morning and she was looking
ready for a nap. There, we were caught by the event photographer.
He did a spectacular job capturing the candid shots of the six of
us you seen in this section. We also talked at length with a lady
who happend to have a dog almost identical to Trixie. Good folks
seem to show up at these cycling events.
Addison and Branton changed into their riding gear and warmed up for the race. Afterwards, we walked to the starting line and found good place along the hill to best view their descent.
